Following from Development Squad we offer four further levels of squad swimming, including our RACING SQUAD designed for the young (9-12 year old) competitive swimmer and High School SQUAD for 12-16 year old non competitive swimmers.
MINI SQUAD is the first progression from Stroke Development and an introduction to ‘squad training’. Whilst continuing to develop efficient and rhythmic techniques in all four strokes, swimmers must have a sound knowledge of all strokes and able to swim 100m freestyle. Much of the class is focused on technique improvement and maintaining efficient stroking over a longer distance. Swimmers also learn to read the pace clock and start interval training and mastering tumble turns, touch turns, diving and streamlines. (approx. ages 8-10yrs). Ideally Mini Squad swimmers should attend 2 times per week.
JUNIOR SQUAD The next squad following from Mini Squad for students who have increased fitness levels and solid technique across all strokes. The squad aims to develop more endurance and aerobic fitness while maintaining correct efficient stroking. Interval training and race prepartion techniques are also a part of Junior Squad training. This is an excellent squad for the 8/9 year old competitor or 9-11 year old looking for increased fitness and swimming development. Junior Squad swimmers are encouraged to swim 2-3 times per week and also join the SWIM CLUB for regular competition.
RACING SQUAD is designed for 9 years and over competitive swimmers. Swimmers must attend a minimum of 3 sessions per week. This squad expands swimmers knowledge of the world of competitive swimming and racing as well as developing their physical capabilities and nuturing their emotional development as young athletes. An enjoyable and diverse program aimed to inspire young athletes to learn about mastering their own ability and laying the foundations for future success.
Is a fitness, fun based squad encouraging non competitive High Schoolers to continue swimming for fitness, cross training and general wellness. Competitive swimming is not for everyone but swimming is a great discipline to maintain throughout your life and we love to see our High School kids enjoying swimming training as addition to their otherwise busy lives. Great for physical and mental health!
